Cobble stone walls bring a rustic and cozy charm to any scene, whether it’s a storybook cottage or an enchanted forest. Learning how to color cobble stones with warm brown tones adds depth and texture to your artwork.
Today, we’re working on a cobble stone wall illustration from the Little Fuzzy,a Southern Lotus Coloring Book filled with adorable animals in everyday activities. Follow this 4-step tutorial using Ohuhu markers to achieve a 3D textured stone effect.
- Ohuhu Markers (WG01, WG4, WG070, WG090)
- White acrylic pen
- A coloring page featuring a wall background (from Little Fuzzy Coloring Book)
Step 1: Base Layer with WG01
Begin by covering the entire background with WG01, a light warm gray. This serves as a smooth base layer, making it easier to build up depth and texture later.

Step 2: Define Stones with WG4, WG070, and WG090
Now, create randomly shaped stones using WG4, WG070, and WG090. These colors represent different shades of stone, giving your wall a more natural and varied appearance.
Tip: Don’t make the stones too uniform—real cobble stones come in different shapes and sizes!

Step 3: Add Shadows for Depth
Using the same colors from Step 2, darken the edges and in-between spaces to create shadows and enhance the 3D stone effect.

Step 4: Add Highlights with a White Acrylic Pen
Finally, use a white acrylic pen to place small highlights on the top or center of each stone where light would naturally hit. This step adds realism and dimension to the cobble stone texture.

A stunning cobble stone wall is done!

With layered colors, smooth blending, and realistic highlights, your cobble stone background is now complete! This technique works beautifully for cozy cottages, fantasy settings, or any illustration that needs a charming stone wall.
