Heart checker patterns bring a romantic and whimsical touch to any artwork, making them perfect for a love-themed coloring book!
In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through 4 simple steps to create a dreamy heart checkered pattern using Ohuhu markers. Today’s page is from the Fuzzy in Love, a Southern Lotus Coloring Book featuring adorable hand-drawn love-inspired illustrations.
- Ohuhu Markers (V330, V270, RV200)
- White Acrylic Pen
- A coloring page with an object you want to decorate with a heart checkered pattern (from Fuzzy in Love Coloring Book by Southern Lotus)
Step 1: Color the Base
Fill the entire checkered area with V330. This will set a rich, uniform background for the heart pattern.
Step 2: Draw the Hearts with V270
Using V270, sketch small heart shapes inside every other square. Make sure to vary the sizes slightly for a more natural look.
Step 3: Draw Hearts with a White Acrylic Pen
Finally, add additional heart shapes inside the squares colored in step 2. The contrast between the two shades will enhance the dreamy, layered effect.
Your love-themed checkerboard pattern is complete! The purple and pink tones create a soft, enchanting aesthetic that’s perfect for any romantic or cute coloring project.
